DEG (Di-Ethylene Glycol) is a kind of glycol and is a compound consisting of two molecules of methyl glycol and one molecule of H2O released from two molecules of methyl glycol.
It is a reacting by-product of ethylene glycol and a raw material for synthetic resins.
DEG is also used in antifreeze, brake fluid, lubricating oil, cork plasticizers, packaging materials and paints.
It is also non-flammable, does not dissipate toxic vapors or cause skin absorption so it is commonly used as a solvent.
